Dr. Liz Barton Dr. Liz Barton

Dr. Liz Barton graduated in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Cambridge in 2004. Following a varied clinical career, she joined global veterinary radiology company, VET.CT, as Head of Communications in 2021 and led the company's journey to achieving B Corp certification. Throughout her career, she has actively explored challenges and solutions for veterinary teams, including co-founding the WellVet not-for-profit initiative and Vet Mums peer support group. She champions responsible advancement of the profession, co-authoring the sentinel white paper on artificial intelligence in veterinary medicine in 2023 and chairing the first global conference on AI in veterinary medicine. Liz has spoken and written globally on a range of AI topics, including ethics, responsible development and adoption, applications in clinical practice and on farm, and the potential impacts on sustainability. She has been invited to contribute to the American Association of Veterinary State Boards working group on AI standards, the British Veterinary Association Working Group on AI, and the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) AI standards working group. Liz has received the RCVS Impact Award in 2022 and was awarded Fellowship of the RCVS in 2025 for meritorious contribution to the profession. Read more
Dr. Ofelia Stanciu Dr. Ofelia Stanciu

After graduating as a Computer Science Engineer, Dr. Ofelia Stanciu dedicated a decade to academia, culminating in a pioneering 2010 PhD that applied Machine Learning to business decision-making—long before AI entered the mainstream. Relocating to the UK in 2014, she transitioned to the private sector and joined the senior leadership team of a successful Cambridge-based MSP. There, she directed large technical teams and shaped corporate strategy. Known for building influential networks and securing buy-in across the Golden Triangle, Ofelia has focused on scaling brand visibility and high-level relationship management. She is now channeling this combined technical and commercial expertise into a new venture focused on building a more regulated, responsible AI future. Read more

Nichole is an experienced veterinary surgeon with clinical expertise spanning mixed, small animal, referral, and emergency practice. She now works as an AI engineer on large-scale AI deployments serving thousands of users, operating across the full development lifecycle from design to deployment. Nichole's focus is on ensuring that AI systems are not only ethically sound but highly effective in delivering measurable benefit at scale. Nichole's work centers on translating ethics, safety, and responsibility into operational practice through the design of assurance and evaluation frameworks. She has particular expertise in the validation of AI systems involving Large Language Models and has lectured at the University of Sheffield on this topic. Read more
Dr. Geraldine Shallow Dr. Geraldine Shallow

Dr. Geraldine Shallow, is a veterinarian, AI healthcare specialist, and consultant working at the intersection of clinical practice, artificial intelligence, and responsible innovation. A NAVLE-certified small animal veterinarian with a Certificate in Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare from Stanford School of Medicine, she combines expertise in veterinary medicine, clinical AI validation, and real-world implementation.

Prior to veterinary medicine, Geraldine trained in environmental science and chemical engineering and worked in sustainability, regulatory compliance, and auditing roles within industry and consulting. This multidisciplinary background provides a strong foundation in risk assessment, evidence evaluation, quality assurance, and governance: skills that are increasingly important in the development and oversight of trustworthy AI systems.

Her work focuses on ensuring emerging technologies are safe, transparent, and fit for real-world clinical use, helping bridge the gap between clinicians, technical teams, and decision-makers. Geraldine is passionate about advancing responsible AI in animal health and supporting the development of practical frameworks that promote accountability, safety, and meaningful clinical impact.
